Dr. Kyoung-Yun Joseph Kim

Professor

Dr. Kyoung-Yun Kim is a professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Wayne State University, where he directs the Computational Intelligence and Design Informatics (CInDI) Laboratory. Dr. Kim’s research focuses on design science; design informatics; manufacturing awareness on design; semantic assembly design; and product life-cycle modeling. Dr. Kim has received external funding from several U.S. federal agencies including NSF, DMDII, NIDRR, VA, DOD, DOE, and industries including Ford and GM. Currently, Dr. Kim is the site director for the NSF Industry and University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) for e-Design. Dr. Kim is a Fellow of the Society of Design and Process Science. He currently serves a Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Integrated Design and Process Science. Dr. Kim received top cited article award (2005-2010) from Journal CAD and 2003 IIE Transactions Best Paper Award. Dr. Kim was an invited professor at Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM), France, 2017 and was a visiting professor at Kyung Hee University, South Korea, 2014. Dr. Kim’s education includes a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kim is a member of IIE, SDPS, ASME, and ASEE. Dr. Kim currently resides in Ann Arbor, MI with his wife, Mi-Jeong, and two daughters, Hanna and Ethel. He is a Christian.

Dr. Carolyn Psenka

Research Associate

Carolyn E. Psenka is a cultural anthropologist who studies the interactions of humans and technologies in everyday activities at work. Her range of research interests includes anthropologically-oriented studies of knowledge translation in complex organization and studies of potential users of innovative technologies to inform its design—or Design Anthropology. Dr. Psenka is currently a Research Associate with the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Wayne State University and has participated in several engineering research projects sponsored by the US Air Force, NASA, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Dr. Jae Mun Sim

Postdoctoral Fellow

Jae Mun Sim is a Post-Doc fellow at Wayne State University from September, 2016. Sim obtained his Ph.D in Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea before working as a research professor in Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, South Korea. He has published in Expert Systems with Applications, etc. His main research interests lie in human computer interaction, creativity science, artificial intelligence in decision-making(business, health or industrial domain areas) etc.

Md. Tarique Hasan Khan

Ph.D. Candidate

Md. Tarique Hasan Khan obtained a first class B.Sc.degree in Mechanical Engineering from the BUET, Bangladesh in 2009. He completed his MSc from KAIST, South Korea from the department of Ocean Systems Engineering; Now he is pursuing his PhD in the Industrial and Systems Engineering department at Wayne State University. His current research interests include CAD/CAM, Knowledge Based Product Design and Ontology.

Fahim Ahmed

Ph.D. Student

Fahim Ahmed is pursuing his Ph.D degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering in Wayne State University. He completed his MS degree from Ocean Systems Engineering from KAIST, South Korea. He got his Bachelor Degree from Mechanical Engineering in BUET, BangladFahim Ahmed is pursuing his Ph.D degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering in Wayne State University. He completed his MS degree from Ocean Systems Engineering from KAIST, South Korea. He got his Bachelor Degree from Mechanical Engineering in BUET, Bangladesh. His research interests is CAD/CAM.esh. Sattar Ameri

Ph.D. Student

Sattar Ameri is a Ph.D student in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Wayne State University. He received his master degree in computer science in 2015 from Wayne State University. His current research interests include Machine Learning, Data mining, Pattern Recognition, Statistical Modeling, Survival Analysis, Student Retention, Graph Database and Knowledge Based Systems and Ontology.

Shengyu Liu

Ph.D. Student

Shengyu Liu is pursuing her Ph.D degree in Industrial and System Engineering in Wayne State University from 2017. She achieved her MS in KAIST, South Korea, and bachelor in HUST, China. Her current research interests are VR, CPS and CAD.

Noor E. Jannat

Ph.D. Student, Web Administrator

Noor E Jannat is a PhD student in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Wayne State University (WSU). She graduated from WSU Computer Science (CS) department with Master’s degree in 2017. She completed her B.Sc. in CS from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Bangladesh. Her research interests are Data Mining and Machine Learning.
